[This] collection of erotic poetry offers a cavalcade of love affairs, focusing on the narrator's moment-to-moment fantasies and experiences.

A sprawling collection… that intriguingly lays out a dance of seduction in all of its conceivable steps.

The Afterward

by Kathleen K.

Art:  You may not make your living from it but you sure can make your life about it.

You can’t rush art but you do have to push it.

Writing poetry can be art; making books is business.

The ARCHING OVER sexotic poetry collections began in the early 1980’s in Seattle where the literary community was paper-based like the rest of the world.  The web hadn’t tangled us up in digitizing our dreams and nightmares.  We checked our PO boxes faithfully, circulating typed submissions and reciprocating replies; we used X-ACTO knives and paper cement to prepare our master layouts for little magazines.  We were an active underground (aloof from academic influence).  Once deemed ready, our words were printed and then collated, folded and saddle-stapled by fellow artists who expected you to help them when they published.  We got our names into the International Directory of Little Magazines and Small Presses at Dustbooks.  There were taverns where the poets went; there were open mic nights when the big frog in that small pond would headline to an audience just waiting for their turn to emote.

These particular poems collected themselves right on into the 90’s when computers were edging into the home, newly familiar at work in a personal form, a PC.  Wheee.  Book folk took notice.  Y2K loomed… we did party like it was 1999.

From there to here.  Books in print proliferate but readers are a skittish bunch; an e-book is so… sanitary.  Your reading material is hidden by a plastic face.  No more lurid covers to hide, no more high-brow titles to flash.  Good words artfully arranged still lift up off the surface because it is less about the format and more about the contents.  For me, the book exists in print and is surrendered digitally for reader convenience.

ARCHING OVER comes from a world where communication was analog (things took time), fashioned by an alternative bookmaker who still prizes the independence now exercised online at KathleenK.xxx.  Every modern convenience was used in the production of this version.  It’s all about arranging the words, then and now, crisscrossing time.

It’s hard to decide when you have become a poet and aren’t just writing a lot of short sentences.  Several talented women active in our self-publishing sub world offered to read my poems at an open mic.  They were giving up their own stage time to me… generous, yes.  What I also understood was that they wanted those words in their mouths, lighting up their eyes.  They stirred up a storm using my thunder.  This was a turning point for me.  I thank them still!

ARCHING OVER introduces my readers to Maxximus, the graphic artist who unified the presentation of these four separate books and bestowed on all of us a potent study of feminine strength for the cover.

When I suggested he adopt an alternate persona for his introduction as illustrator of a bedside reader for the adult mind, he wondered if I thought a pseudonym was really necessary.  I reminded him he was talking to Kathleen K.

There is a craft to being intimate without getting personal and our blend of perspectives meshed for the look of the book.

This is the central graphic for the back cover; we called it “cubed lips”.  The lips were presented in black & white with their natural alignment (pre-cubed) and used as the basis for interior section breaks, with each title emphasized in its turn.

ARCHING OVER gathers evocative, provocative poetry of hope, hunger, and satisfaction.  Incorporating four short “small press” collectibles, Kathleen K. shows that love∞sex is timeless and recognizable.  This is a bedside reader for the adult mind.  Not suitable for some, appreciated by others.

Graphic poetry may not be what you expected but it could be what you’ve been waiting for… amorous, yearning, exultant.

KathleenK.xxx is an online catalog of sexotic books for the rowdier reader.

This is not your mommy’s porn.

Whatever moves erotica from smut to art is at work here.  Anchoring this oeuvre of titillating sexual escapades is the non-fiction cult classic Sweet Talkers (Words from the Mouth of a Pay-to-Say Girl) now in its 3rd Edition.  These books are wicked and witty, tailored for the nightstand.

Extracted samples, completely out of order.

Ever seen a guy watching the ground for lost change who blunders past a diamond because it isn’t flat and it isn’t metallic?  He never knows…

You could have had me.

_____

We come like a heartbeat,

a rolling pulse

emptying one chamber

to fill another.

Dedicated to you

   All of you

      Especially you

You always make me feel

you mutter into my vault

calling it a witch’s heart

a haunting...

glimmers in the darkness

of the potion

that makes it so

* * * * *

a sexual haze

shimmering

the taste of me

and me after you

* * * * *

brain storming

thunder and lightning in the hole

tit tips like tees

my fingers melt skin

a widening crack

me all over myself

* * * * *

the exultant dumping

of your precious load

a trust to be borne

not abandoned on the roadway

it must be emptied in the chalice

or it is nothing

* * * * *

the sensations in my body

caused by the vibrator in your hands

may have accounted

for my trembling

but what, then, caused yours?

* * * * *

    ˜

My little vixen bitch

so turned on by the language

of nasty, abrupt longing.

Teasing, twisted, sister bitch,

nipples pulled purple/brown and swollen,

bottom squirming

in damp-crotched panties.

Breathless with your promise

to be my temptress,

to part the proverbial curtain

and pry your inner-self open,

to roll over and flash your ass.

I want to sit on the bed

with my legs stretched out,

you prone over my thighs

to be admired, to be delved into.

I want you to want to raise to your knees

and rear back.
